I have had such a hard time NOT posting my thoughts on the latest furor to hit Romancelandia but lucky for you I am abstaining. You can thank me by sending caramels ;) or mint M&Ms. I'm meh about mint, but Gizmo Guy loves 'em and it would be cool to put some in his Christmas stocking this year. I just found out about 'em and now have to see if they carry them up here in Canada.
Anyway, I realized I hadn't updated you on my NaNo project lately - which still isn't titled other than my referring to it as "Chad's Story". If you have any suggestions, let me know.
As you can see, I'm over the 40,000 mark and am on the home stretch for NaNo. Trouble is, Chad's story will take quite a bit more to finish, probably at least another 20-30K. As I think I've said before, it's different than Sam's story. It's a reunited love story - which a friend of mine said she'd never read as she hates those type of stories. *sigh* As an author, you have to realize you can't please everyone. Her loss.
However, there's going to be lots of heat of various types. First where they're hot for each other, followed by heated exchanges as they try to work out their differences, so it's a strange balancing act. One of my secondary characters is turning out even better than I hoped. Okay, not better as in she's a good girl, better as in she's turning into a lovely nemesis for Lauren, which may upset some people who had high hopes for this particular character. But as is typical I tend to weave a lot of threads into my stories and try to throw too much conflict in too soon, so I'm trying to keep myself in control.
Hopefully within the next four or five days I'll achieve my NaNo target and can focus on writing a really clean first draft. (although what I've already written isn't in too bad a shape as it is. She says hopefully.)
