What's your favorite of all the books you've written?
LOL—I can’t believe you as a writer asked that question, Leah! It’s like asking a mother to proclaim her favorite child in public. Well, for political purposes, I’ll say my upcoming release, Sweet Restraint. It’s got all the elements I love in erotic romance: raw, turbulent emotion, suspense, unapologetic sexuality and tension so thick between the hero and heroine you could slice it up and taste it.
Leah scuffs her toe in the carpet and blushes as she mumbles, "I have favorites."
Did one book give you more trouble than the others?
Hmmm…I did struggle with Sweet Restraint’s hero Shane. His decision to essentially take the woman he loves captive and to force her to give the responsibility of the truth over to him is a pretty controversial one. He fights with his actions internally, but as an expert on human behavior (he’s an FBI agent that has been trained in psychology and criminology), he senses that danger is looming over Laura. He was forced to give up on her in the past, and he wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he did it again. So he sacrifices everything in order to break through Laura’s defenses, and the bedroom becomes the arena for that. So yeah, it was a challenge to create a hero that doesn’t come off as a complete jerk, to show that he’s being hard, but out of a source of great love.
In your bio, you say that you often get your best ideas while stuck in traffic playing loud music? What's playing?
Audioslave and Soundgarden are favorites. So are Radio Head and Pearl Jam. I also like older stuff—R&B, hard rock, pop. I’ve got a HUGE music library on my I-pod.
What's the best piece of advice you received about writing before you were published?
Probably to expect rejection. It’s part of the weave of the fabric of publishing. You have to think of it as notches on your bed post. Lol. The more rejections you get, the more acceptances you get. You just have to keep writing—both in the face of rejection and success.
Because you write steamy erotic romance, do you ever have readers ask if you do "that stuff"? You know, I don’t think anyone has ever been so bold as to ask me that to my face. My husband and I have an exceptionally good relationship all around. I think most people who know me wouldn’t be shocked if I had done some of ‘that stuff.’ Not that I’m saying I have--I’m neither confirming or denying.
Leah giggles and whispers, "I have been asked. Several times. But I'm not telling."
If you could go back to when you were just getting out of high school to give yourself one piece of advice, what would tell yourself?
I would tell myself to stand tall. All young people are beautiful, they just don’t know it. That’s the sad thing about it. I feel such nostalgia when I see someone in their late teens or early twenties. The world is laid out before them. I feel like saying, “Be proud. Celebrate yourself. You’re only young once.”
When you're not writing, what do you like to do just to kick back and relax?
Hang out on the deck, cook, take walks around the city with my husband, take long baths with a glass of good red wine and a book in easy reach.
What's your favorite memory from when you were a child?
Hanging out with friends and playing outside on summer nights. When summer comes, I always recall the feeling of the thick, cool grass between my fingers and how scared and excited we’d get playing hide and seek in the dark…how bummed we’d be when we heard the call of our parents to come home.
SWEET RESTRAINT
Publisher: Berkley Heat
Genre: Contemporary
Release Date: July 7, 2009
Format: Trade Paperback
This time, he’ll never let her go…
Chicago Special Agent Shane Dominic was in love with Laura Vasquez until the day she left him and married another man. Thirteen years may have passed, but Laura’s never disappeared from his fantasies, or destroyed his desire to learn the truth about why she left him. When her husband, the criminal mastermind behind an international ring of thieves, is murdered, Shane knows this is his one last, desperate chance to learn Laura’s secrets. And he’s not above using their scorching hot passion for one another and a little domination to do it.
One look at Shane, and Laura’s own memories come back to haunt her. Her feelings run deep, but she’d never divulge her secrets—a desperate vow that’s compromised when Shane stuns her by taking her as his captive to a secluded cabin. Here, she will finally belong to him, be subjected to his every torturously erotic whim, and be forced to trust him with a shocking truth she’s hidden for so long—one that will expose them to a danger closing in on the both of them.

Since I have a copy of Daring Time would love to be in for Wicked Burn. Enjoyed the interview!
Hello!
Beth I love your choice of music. And your interview was great.
Leah I want to thank you for asking "Because you write steamy erotic romance, do you ever have readers ask if you do "that stuff"? " I always wandered if people really asked those personal questions. When you look at tv and read magasines I shouldn't be suprised to know that they do ask that. LOL!
Count me in for Daring Time.
thanks!
Good Morning,
great interview,I'd love to win Wicked Burn.I read great reviews of Beth's books.
thanks

Good morning everyone!
Aliens, yes, I have been asked "that question" face-to-face by a fan. She specifically asked if I was into BDSM since I'd written about it in Personal Protection. All I could do was laugh.
I have heard other authors who have had similar questions. It makes for interesting conversation sometimes. Which is why I asked Beth ... you never know what stories you may hear.
Wow cool interview Beth.... I remember playing outside until whenever and hating getting called in too. We played hide and seek in an old abandoned grave yard. I would love to win one of your books. Thanks for being part of Leahs Birthday Bash
Hi Beth,
Thanks for the great interview. I've heard of you but I've never read your work. After reading the excerpts of both of these books at your website, it would be a very hard choice to make...but I think I would have to opt for Daring Time.
Happy Reading!

Hi there!
Great interview! I love Beth's answers to the questions about being asked if she does 'that stuff' and what she would tell her high school self. The first made me chuckle (as did Leah's aside) and the second made me smile because of what great advice it is.

Great interview and congrats on your upcoming release Beth.
I would love win a copy of "Wicked Burn".

Release day is always fun. To be able to do more than read the blurb and any excerpts. Always enjoy flipping open the book and skimming the first chapter before returning to page one and savoring the words. I have Wicked Burn so I need Daring Time.
Loved the interview! And I would very much like to read Wicked Burn!
Please don't enter me in today's contest, as I have read both of these!! :D I am definitely heading over to your site after I get home to night Beth, I love the sounds of Sweet Restraint!

Hi Beth! Congrats on the release of Sweet Restraint! Hmmm... having read such an early iteration of it and nothing of it since, I'm dying to read the final product.
Ooh, all of you who haven't read Wicked Burn? You need to read it. It rocked. Vic? Just yummy. Me? I still need to read Daring Time.
And Leah... your asides were making me laugh. Funny girl.
Leah & Beth, that was a terrific interview! I would never have the nerve to ask an author about 'that stuff'. Loved your answer!
Wicked Burn would be my pick should I be lucky enough to win.
Leah and Beth:
That was a simply spectacular interview! I learned something new about Beth, with respect to her choice of music. I never would have guessed! lol
Sweet Restraint was a emotional and special read for me and I cannot praise it enough.
Please don't enter me in the contest - I have all of Beth's books on my keeper shelf.
Thank you for sharing!

Oh, Beth, I'm sure you've knocked another one out of the park with this one. Can't wait to read it. :-)
And Leah - LOVE your header!
Hi Leah and Beth,
Great interview. I can see what you mean about the fine line between a jerk and an alpha male and I look forward to Sweet Restraint coming out. I would love to win a copy of Daring Time because I've always wondered about parallel time and would love to read a love story dealing with this concept.
Julie
Great interview.
Count me in for Wicked Burn.
I love Soundgarden too, I am so sad they broke up! Chris Cornell solo is not the same. I love all the Seattle bands - anyone remember Tad, Green River, The Melvins...I still love the movie "Singles".
If I win, I would like either one.
Wicked Burn all the way please and thanks.
Leah, thanks for hosting! Beth, thanks for visiting! Would love to win a copy of Wicked Burn :)
Congrats on the new release it sounds great.
If I won I would choose Daring Time.

I like what you said about rejection being part of the weave of the fabric that is publishing. It makes it seem like 'just' another issue we have to deal with.
Great interview! I would love a copy of Wicked Burn! Thanks for the chance to win!
Daring Time is the book for me. I love time travel stories.
Hi Beth and Leah~
Another great interview. I would love to be entered for a chance to win Wicked Burn as this sounds amazing!
Oh My!!! LOL! I am loving this birthday party!!
A real alpha male in a cabin in the woods sounds *way* up my ally *pant*!
Great interview. Both books sound great! I'd love either.
I've actually thought about the question on what you would tell your high school self. I'd probably say - Live. I have more regrets for things I didn't do than for things I did do that then went wrong.
lynda98662 at yahoo dot com
Great interview. I would love to read either of Beth's books. :)
The winner (announced at 7:55 a.m. ET) is Karen H.
